The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting Jasper police with a human trafficking investigation, the bureau said on Wednesday.
According to the GBI, police rescued a 14-year-old who had been reported missing as a runaway from Pennsylvania in January. The girl was medically treated and will be transported back to Pennsylvania.
The GBI declined to provide any additional information because the inquiry is still continuing. Officials ask that anybody with information contact the GBI’s HEAT Unit at 404-270-8433. Anonymous tipsters can phone 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), submit an online tip, or use the See Something, Send Something app.
Georgia’s statewide human trafficking hotline number is 1-866-ENDHTGA.
