An investigation is currently underway into a tragic incident that occurred last night, resulting in the loss of a young girl’s life and the hospitalization of a woman.

Police received a call to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street last night at around 11:00 p.m., as stated by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez. Upon arrival, they discovered two females inside a parked car on Oak Street, both of whom had been shot.

A tragic incident occurred in Jersey City when 15-year-old Cianna Lee lost her life. She was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at around 1:20 a.m. Another victim, a 37-year-old female relative of Lee, also sustained a gunshot wound and is currently receiving treatment at the same medical center. Thankfully, her condition is stable.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is currently investigating the cause and manner of Lee’s death.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are currently investigating the case. No arrests have been made at this time. If you have any information, please contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or leave an anonymous tip. Rest assured, all information provided will be kept confidential.

In a span of three weeks, Jersey City has experienced two homicides, with Lee’s death being the most recent. The first incident occurred on January 3, when 20-year-old Rahmiere Morris from Jersey City was tragically shot in Greenville. A 17-year-old male was apprehended and faced charges as a juvenile in connection with the crime.
