A 17-year-old boy shot a 16-year-old boy in the head during an attempted drug rip-off on the Southwest Side, according to officials. Angelo Carlin has now been charged with attempted murder, and the victim faces a long recovery ahead.
Prosecutors said Carlin used social media to arrange to buy marijuana from the other teen, and the two planned to conduct the deal on March 28 in the 8100 block of South Scottsdale.
Authorities claim that the victim, a resident of Cicero, drove to the location and showed Carlin the marijuana he had on hand. According to authorities, Carlin pulled out a revolver and forced the boy to hand over all of his marijuana.
The boy attempted to drive away, but Carlin allegedly fired a shot, striking the victim in the back of the head. The bullet exited through the boy’s right eye. He collided with a parked car, his vision impaired by the gunfire.
Investigators discovered security video of the event, and three people identified Carlin based on photos from the clip, according to the petition.
Judge Susana Ortiz approved the state’s custody motion.
