According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, a 19-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy on Saturday.

Deputies say Fadlalla Mohamed, 19, of Ashburn, is charged with first-degree murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.

On Saturday evening, deputies were dispatched to the 43000 block of Hillmont Terrace in response to a stabbing incident; however, officials discovered a teen in the front passenger seat of a vehicle outside the Harris Teeter in Southern Walk Plaza.

Authorities declared the child dead at the scene.

Deputies established that the adolescent was shot in a different location and that someone carried him to Southern Walk Plaza — but that person is not a suspect.

The sheriff’s office recognized Mohamed as the shooter and detained him in Leesburg. He is being held in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

“This was a brutal crime and is a tragedy for this young man’s family,” said Sheriff Mike Chapman. “I am proud of the many deputies, detectives, analysts and others who worked around-the-clock to identify the suspect, then locate and arrest him. The arrest of a suspect in less than 24 hours is a tribute to their diligence and skills, and to the use of state-of-the-art technologies to identify and locate Mohamed,” he added.

This is a continuing investigation. The agency urges anybody with information to call Detective Whitehead at 703-777-1021. Anonymous tips can be sent to Loudoun County Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919 or via the app from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
