TikTok sensation Beandri Booysen, aged 19, has sadly passed away after bravely fighting a super-aging disease.

Beandri, despite not being expected to live past the age of 14, defied the odds and refused to surrender. Her determination and perseverance made her an internet sensation.

Just two months ago, the teenager had open-heart surgery and was determined to make the most of Christmas with her parents.

She was born with a rare disease called Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. This condition causes rapid aging in children. Additionally, she also suffered from osteoporosis, a condition that weakens the bones and makes them more prone to fractures.

Beandri was one of the 200 known sufferers in the world, as only one in 4 million babies are born with this incurable defect.

Beandri’s mother, Bea, sadly passed away yesterday after a courageous battle. In a heartfelt message, Bea expressed her gratitude to her fans from around the world for their immense love and support.

With heavy hearts, we regretfully inform you of the loss of Beandri, a remarkable and cherished young woman in South Africa. Throughout her life, she consistently exuded hope and joy, leaving an enduring impact on those around her.

Beandri was a remarkable individual in South Africa who was known for her vibrant personality and infectious laugh. She held a unique distinction as the last surviving person in the country living with the rare genetic condition called Progeria.

“She used her unique spirit to inspire thousands worldwide and became a symbol of awareness for Progeria and other special needs children. Her unwavering determination never ceased, as she continued to fight against all odds.”

Beandri, with an impressive following of 269,200 on TikTok, aims to increase awareness about the rare disease and provide inspiration to individuals facing challenging circumstances.

In an earlier interview this year, she shared, “I have been living with Progeria since birth, and I have grown accustomed to it. Over the years, I have learned how to cope with the various challenges and surgeries.”

“I embrace every challenge that comes my way, trusting that it is part of God’s plan for my life. I am grateful to my family for their unwavering strength and support, as they raised me to be just like any other child, without viewing me as different from others.”

“This experience has been instrumental in shaping my character and has made me the resilient individual I am today. Through my significant following on TikTok, I strive to inspire and motivate those who follow me, ensuring that they remain positive on a daily basis.”

“I aim to increase the understanding and recognition of individuals with special needs, emphasizing the fact that each person is distinct and exceptional in their own right. If I can provide support and encouragement along the way, I am determined to do so.”

My mother, Bea, announced that a memorial service will be conducted to commemorate her life.

People who battle progeria typically have an average life expectancy of 14 years, with only a small number living into their twenties.
