On Monday afternoon, two juveniles were apprehended after making an unsuccessful attempt to rob a victim in a parking garage in Silver Spring. Following a foot pursuit, the officers successfully caught the suspects and subsequently charged them. However, the juveniles were later released into the custody of their parents.
District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos reported that on Monday, January 20, 2025, at approximately 3 PM, officers from the 3rd District received a notification from a community member regarding an attempted robbery in the parking garage on Roeder Road near Fenton Street. The victim was targeted for their jacket.
The officers of the Central Business District (CBD) team noticed the suspects fleeing from the scene and immediately gave chase. They pursued the suspects on foot, braving the icy conditions. Eventually, both suspects were successfully apprehended and taken into custody.

In yet another incident, one of the juvenile suspects had already been wearing an ankle monitor due to a previous felony crime. Both of the juveniles were charged and subsequently released to their parents.”
