Two people were killed, and at least one person is missing after multiple pedestrians were struck by a train Sunday evening in northern Ohio, authorities said.
WTOL-TV said that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. in Fremont, near Lake Erie, between Toledo and Cleveland.
Danny Sanchez, Fremont’s mayor, confirmed two deaths.
According to the TV station, emergency officials were searching for at least one missing individual in the Sandusky River near the Miles Newton Bridge. Authorities decided to close the bridge.
Fremont police announced on X that the bridge had been closed and that visitors should avoid the area. There were several law enforcement agencies on the scene.
