A Texas parent, 29-year-old Jeron, was ordered to spend the next fifty-six years behind bars after pleading guilty to the murders of his child, Nadla, and her mother, Nanci. The plea agreement reduced the charges from capital murder to murder, sparing the defendant from a possible life sentence without parole.
The case unfolded in October 2022, when Texas cops responded to an assault report at a local motel. Officers found the woman unconscious and transported her to a nearby hospital, where they pronounced her dead. The defendant claimed that he had placed the wife in a chokehold to keep her from injuring their kid.
Following the woman’s death, Texas officials discovered the disappearance of her 2-year-old child. Her last sighting occurred a few days prior to the discovery of her mother’s body.
Investigators discovered blood-stained objects in the defendant’s residence, such as a mattress stashed in a closet and a bloody rag on the bathroom floor. The defendant was uncooperative, initially claiming he didn’t know where the child was and that her mother had taken her.
Further inquiry uncovered incriminating material. The defendant’s internet search history contained questions like “How long does it take for a dead body to smell?” Photos of the child’s facial injuries were also discovered on his phone.
Human remains were discovered many months later, and the Institute of Forensic Sciences established the victim’s age as two years old six days later.
According to Texas authorities, the plea deal in June 2025 resulted in a 56-year jail sentence, with eligibility for parole after serving half of the time.
