A 20-year-old man was detained after allegedly firing into four Indianapolis homes and injuring one person.
According to IMPD, police responded to the 2100 block of Waterford Place, near West 71st Street and Michigan Road, on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, shortly after 3 a.m., on a complaint of a shooting.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered a male with gunshot wounds. The victim informed police that he was in the front room when someone allegedly began shooting into the flat, with one of the bullets striking his foot.
Police said they discovered several shot casings in the hallway and gathered them as evidence.
Earlier that night, IMPD stated they responded to three other sites after receiving allegations of bullets fired into three separate homes.
Police stated they have identified the alleged shooter after investigating all four cases.
According to IMPD, officers discovered the suspect in the 3800 block of North High School Road, near Interstate 465 and 38th Street, on Thursday, February 13. When police sought to arrest the man, he allegedly attempted to conceal a revolver in his underwear. Nonetheless, he was put into prison without incident.
Police said the suspect’s gun was determined to be the same caliber as the rounds discovered at each of the four homes.
The defendant was detained on preliminary allegations of battery with a deadly weapon and several counts of criminal carelessness.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
