Three juveniles have been arrested and charged with murder in the death of an 18-year-old man who was dragged from a car after a robbery in north Toledo last month.
The accused, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were detained on Monday and put into the Juvenile Justice Center, Toledo police said. WTOL 11’s policy is not to name juveniles unless they are tried as adults.
According to a police report, Joaquin Simmons approached the 16-year-old to sell sneakers shortly before 4:15 p.m. on March 29. Police reported that the 16-year-old and “unknown males” attempted to rob the victim.
According to reports, Simmons held onto the 16-year-old’s car for several blocks before letting go.
Around 4:20 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Streicher and Mulberry, where they found Simmons in the road. He was rushed to the hospital and died on April 2.
According to Toledo Public Schools, Simmons attended Woodward High School.
