Nearly two weeks after a shooting at a Scottsdale bus stop, police revealed on Thursday that they had made arrests.
Investigators say the three individuals they were hunting for since the May 24 shooting have been apprehended. The trio is all under the age of 18; thus, no names or booking images have been issued.
According to police, on May 24, the three teenagers argued with a man on a bus, which evolved into a brawl. When the group got off the bus near Main Street and Scottsdale Road just after 7:30 p.m., the 17-year-old shot the man, and the three teenagers fled, according to police.
The man was struck in the lower half of his body and sent to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
A few days after the shooting, police released a surveillance photo of the three suspects, showing the alleged gunman in the center of the group. Shortly thereafter, a 16-year-old girl and boy were apprehended. The boy was charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct, and the girl with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, police said they found the 17-year-old shooter at his Phoenix home. He was put into jail for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will consider whether the shooter should be charged as an adult.
