An Alabama man is facing a felony drug charge after deputies found him traveling with hundreds of pounds of marijuana.
Posey County officials said they were called to assist a stranded motorist on Interstate 64 at mile marker 4.
Deputies say when they arrived to aid the driver, subsequently identified as 69-year-old Clarance Shipman, they discovered several marijuana-filled garbage bags in the van’s cargo area.
Authorities reported finding 800 pounds of marijuana and synthetic marijuana in Shipman’s vehicle.
Deputies claimed Shipman was smuggling the marijuana, worth around $1 million, from Los Angeles to North Carolina.
The Posey County Jail took the 69-year-old into custody and charged him with felony marijuana dealing.
