A 71-year-old woman successfully defended herself against a group of four women attempting to steal her purse in a New York City subway. Despite the assailants’ efforts, she managed to hold onto her belongings and emerged from the encounter unharmed.

According to the New York Daily News, a woman was riding the train in Downtown Brooklyn when she arrived at the Hoyt St. Station at around six in the evening. However, as she was leaving, she was attacked by four women who were trying to snatch her purse.

Despite being outnumbered and physically assaulted by four muggers, the brave elder managed to hold onto her purse. Although the attackers failed to snatch the item, they left the woman in a battered state.

Medics came to the aid of the woman who had fallen and took her to Brooklyn Hospital. Although she is expected to recover from her minor injuries, the 71-year-old is still seeking justice for what happened to her.

The individuals responsible for the assault have not yet been identified and are still evading capture. However, law enforcement authorities have called on the public to assist in locating the perpetrators. The video footage clearly revealed the attackers, with three of them choosing not to wear face masks.

On New Year’s Day, there were multiple incidents of violence on the subway, with one involving an attack by an older woman. However, this was not the only assault that took place on that day. Despite the heightened security measures in place for public transportation, two other stabbings occurred. In an effort to enhance safety during the holiday season, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the deployment of an additional 250 National Guard troops to protect the subway system, as reported by CBS News.

Despite these efforts and the installation of additional security cameras, there have been unfortunate incidents of burning deaths and multiple stabbings that have taken place. This has understandably raised concerns among the residents of New York City. However, it is worth noting that Governor Hochul has acknowledged that overall subway crime has decreased compared to earlier this year.

If you have any information regarding the four female muggers who were involved in the attack on the elderly woman, please contact the NYPD Crime Stopper’s hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
