An 82-year-old man is currently facing charges of five counts of attempted first-degree murder after his recent arrest in Buckhannon.

Buckhannon resident, Marvin D. Tenney, also known as “Buck,” is currently charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder, along with several other felony charges such as retaliation against a witness, leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury, fleeing with reckless indifference, fleeing while under the influence, and DUI causing serious bodily injury.

Currently, the Tygart Valley Regional Jail is holding him in custody.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office released a statement reporting that several vehicles had crashed into residences near Tenney’s Mobile Home Park in Buckhannon around 2 a.m. on Thursday. Authorities were notified through 911 calls, and upon investigation, it was found that the driver had fled the scene.

According to the release, the suspect, Tenney, was found driving a 1990 Ford pickup truck on South Florida Street without headlights. Deputies located him and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not comply.

According to the release, while Tenney was being pursued, he drove into a residential area and crashed into a house. As a result of the crash, there was a risk of fire, and Sheriff Coffman had to use fire extinguishers to put out the flames and prevent harm to the residents and their property.
