A tragic discovery ended the search for Jonathan Flores, a 32-year-old man from northwest Harris County who was found electrocuted on the roof of a business park near West Road along the Sam Houston Parkway.

His girlfriend, who hadn’t seen him since he left home early the previous Sunday, reported Flores missing last Wednesday. She shared a hunch with the authorities that he might be somewhere in the business park area based on their recent conversation, urging them to investigate the vicinity.

As days passed without leads, Flores’ friend Christian Briones decided to take the search into his own hands. Briones started looking in the business park after becoming dissatisfied with the local police’s apparent lack of urgency, and he soon discovered Flores’ abandoned bike close by.

Sensing something was amiss, Briones continued searching until he noticed a strong odor coming from the rooftop. Climbing up a ladder, he made the heartbreaking discovery: Flores’ body was lodged in a rooftop air conditioning unit, appearing as though he had been attempting to dismantle something within it.

Although it remains unclear whether Flores had training in HVAC work, Briones noted that he had previously repaired a rooftop A/C unit, leading to speculation that he may have attempted a similar task on the roof. The unfortunate incident has left Flores’ loved ones devastated and raising questions about his motives for climbing onto the roof.

Briones expressed frustration with local authorities, suggesting they might not have searched diligently. “I told them where he might be, but it felt like they didn’t want to look,” he stated.

The incident has spurred calls for more thorough procedures in missing person investigations and highlighted the lengths friends and family members will go to find answers. Authorities have yet to release an official cause of death or further details, as investigations continue.
