At least 10 people were injured late Wednesday night (January 1) in a shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York City. The incident unfolded around 11:15 p.m. as a group of 15 young individuals, aged 16 to 20, waited to enter a private event at the venue.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), three or four gunmen approached the group and fired approximately 30 shots before fleeing the scene on foot. They were later seen entering a sedan with out-of-state license plates.

Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera shared in a Thursday morning (January 2) news conference that six females and four males sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals. “There is zero tolerance for these senseless shootings,” Rivera asserted.

He noted that while the motive remains unclear, investigators do not consider the attack an act of terrorism. The NYPD is actively searching for the suspects and exploring whether the shooting may have been gang-related.

Following the incident, a heavy police presence and multiple ambulances were visible outside the nightclub, as shown in social media footage.

At the time of the shooting, the Amazura nightclub, situated in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, was hosting a private event attended by approximately 90 people. The venue had reached capacity, resulting in a line forming outside where the attack occurred.
