Three individuals were apprehended in Greensville, Virginia, following the discovery of a former correctional officer and two accomplices engaging in the illicit activities of drug smuggling and contraband sales at the Greensville Correctional Center.

On March 1, the Office of Law Enforcement Services (OLES) Special Agents at the Virginia Department of Corrections received a report from Greensville Correctional Center. The report stated that Xavier Campbell, who was a Correctional Officer at Greensville at the time, had been spreading rumors about being paid to smuggle contraband into the prison.

Special Agents engaged Campbell, who confessed to smuggling items into the facility on numerous occasions in return for payment. Campbell and his vehicle underwent a thorough search, which led to the discovery of several packages containing various substances, namely the painkiller buprenorphine, naloxone, methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, and tobacco.

After discovering the identity of Campbell’s supplier, they arranged a meeting at a nearby location. Subsequently, OLES, the Greensville County Sheriff’s Office, and the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office located the supplier’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

Willie Gamble, who was recently released from VADOC custody, and his accomplice, Erica Randolph, were found inside the car. The vehicle was discovered to contain a stolen firearm and a package of contraband, resembling the one found in Campbell’s car.

In this case, law enforcement authorities confiscated drugs with a street value exceeding $300,000.

Campbell is currently being charged with the following offenses:

    • Attempt to deliver drugs to a prisoner
    • Possession of a Schedule I&II controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Gamble is being charged with the following offenses:

    • Possession of a Schedule I&II controlled substance with intent to distribute
    • Possession of a Schedule I&II controlled substance
    • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

    • Carrying concealed weapons

Randolph is being charged with the following offenses:

    • Possession of a Schedule I&II controlled substance
