Officials said two persons were arrested on suspicion of murdering a 66-year-old businessman in broad daylight at a park in Cerritos.

The killing occurred on February 25.

The backstory: Cuauhtémoc Garcia was shot and died on the bike path near the Coyote Creek Riverbed at Don Knabe Community Regional Park shortly after noon on February 25th, according to police.

According to detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Garcia was targeted. They uploaded a photo of two people, a man and a woman, following him along the bike path.

According to sheriff’s department sources, someone recognized the couple and called in to identify them.

Homicide investigators eventually traced the two to a silver Toyota Prius. They distributed the license plate number to local law enforcement departments, and on Monday night, Fullerton police located the vehicle and engaged in a police chase.

The pursuit ended in Anaheim when the two cars collided, and they were detained.

Police identified them as John Chong Uk Moon, 54, and Cindy Kim, 58. The two are siblings who reportedly lived in the Prius.

LASD homicide detectives will take the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Wednesday to file official charges.

What we don’t know: Currently, the motivation for the shooting is unknown. According to sources, the suspects are unrelated to the victim or her family.

Family in grief

“I tell him I miss him, I love him,” said Michelle Garcia, the victim’s wife.

Garcia was a prosperous businessman, father of two, and married to his wife for about 30 years.

His relatives claimed he walked 10 kilometers every day, teasing that he was their own Forrest Gump. The family reported that the individual’s passion for eating motivated him to exercise regularly. He was always walking in that park.
