Darwin Adalid Romero-Garcia, a 32-year-old Honduran, has been charged with a federal immigration violation in the Eastern District of Texas, according to Acting United States Attorney Jay R. Combs.
A federal grand jury indicted Romero-Garcia for illegally reentering the United States following his deportation on January 30, 2018. The source reported discovering him illegally in Lewisville on July 19, 2023. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, the Department of Justice’s broad program to target illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.
If convicted, Romero-Garcia could face up to 20 years in federal prison and deportation. The Lewisville Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations are investigating the case. Chalana A. Oliver, an assistant US attorney, is prosecuting the case.
A federal indictment does not indicate guilt, and all defendants are deemed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
