A Texas man with a history of felony convictions has been sentenced to 95 months in federal prison for trafficking cocaine while armed, according to Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Nancy E. Larson. United States District Judge Ada Brown sentenced Eric Dwayne Ned, who did not provide his age, on June 18, 2025.
According to court documents, Ned was initially arrested in June 2021 for several violations, including fleeing arrest and unauthorized possession of a firearm by a felon. After bonding out, similar allegations led to his arrests in September 2021 and March 2022. Special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated his actions and filed federal charges, according to the press release.
In addition to his prior felony convictions for drug offenses and domestic violence assaults, Ned continued to engage in aggressive behavior while confined, including fighting with other inmates and jail staff. The ATF conducted the investigation, while Assistant US Attorney John Boyle prosecuted the case.
