The woman suspected of stabbing a 21-year-old woman and stuffing her body inside a futon in Northeast Philadelphia in April has been apprehended in Madrid.
The US Marshals Service stated that they provided information that resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Gerelys Sanchez-Reyes.
Yuleisy Torrelles-Martinez (toe-RAY-yes) was reported missing in early April after friends said she was not answering the door to her apartment on Frankford Avenue near University Street.
When police investigated Yuleisy Torrelles-Martinez’s home, they discovered her dead, having been viciously stabbed, wrapped in a shower curtain and trash bags, and stuffed inside a futon.
According to KYW, the two women were exotic dancers who may have known each other through work.
Sanchez-Reyes’ arrest warrant was issued on April 5. She is currently awaiting extradition back to the United States, where she faces murder allegations.
