Sacramento police seized hundreds of pounds of illegal fireworks after investigating a planned fireworks show in a neighborhood ahead of the Fourth of July.
According to police, the North Problem Oriented Policing Team discovered the alleged event during the week leading up to Independence Day.
Officers say the show was scheduled to take place in a local neighborhood and noted similar events in previous years had caused major damage and raised safety concerns.
On July 4, officers and an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team responded to Littlestone Street and successfully stopped the show before it began.
Police arrested two people and seized around 450 pounds of illegal fireworks.
Authorities have not released the names of those arrested.
Law enforcement agencies took a strong stance against illegal fireworks this Fourth of July. Several departments deployed drones, and officials say fines will be mailed out soon.
