Country music legend George Strait has raised $6.25 million through a benefit concert to support victims of the devastating floods that swept through Texas’ Hill Country.
The sold-out event, titled Strait To The Heart: A Benefit for Hill Country Flood Victims, took place on Sunday, July 27, in Boerne, Texas. Strait was joined by a star-studded lineup including Ace in the Hole Band, William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park, and Hudson Westbrook. The crowd was also surprised by an appearance from country music icon Garth Brooks.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Strait’s team shared that the evening was both a “tribute to the resilient spirit of the region” and a critical effort to provide immediate relief. All proceeds from the concert, along with online donations, are being directed to the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund, a certified 501(c)(3) organization, to be distributed directly to impacted families and ongoing recovery efforts.
Strait had previously expressed deep concern for the region:
“The destruction and loss in our community from the recent floods is hard to wrap your head around. Our hearts and prayers are with you all,” he said earlier this month.
“The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives.”
He also extended his gratitude to fellow artists who joined the cause, praising their generosity and commitment to the mission.
