Please do not come to me for legal advice. I am a truck journalist, not a lawyer. However, if nasty males come after you, do not try to kill them with a pickup truck. A North Carolina man faces many charges after attempting to kill a police officer with a stolen Ford F-150.
North Carolina man busted for trying to kill a police officer with a truck
29-year-old Victor Alfonso Elvira-Tapia is facing various allegations, including felonies, in four separate North Carolina counties. The Durham man went on a crime spree in a stolen Ford F-150.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said he was running from troopers in a Ford F-150. During a police chase, he attempted to collide with an officer. He reportedly reached 101 mph in a 35 mph zone during the pursuit.
The charges include:
- Two counts of felony fleeing/eluding arrest with a motor vehicle
- Two counts of misdemeanor failure to heed to a light or siren
- Two counts of misdemeanor reckless driving with wanton disregard
- Two counts of misdemeanor speeding
- Two counts of infractions driving left of center
- Two infractions of failure to stop at a steady red light
- Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
Elvira-Tapis is currently facing 35 counts in all, including earlier warrants. He is also suspected of shooting a man with a semi-automatic weapon and stealing a dump trailer in Granville County.
He also allegedly stole a vehicle in Orange County and more than $2,000 in car batteries in Wake County. It remains uncertain whether the pursuit and arrest resulted in any injuries to police officers. However, having him behind bars makes everything feel safer.
