Solomon Givens, a 55-year-old with a long history of felony convictions, recently admitted to serious drug trafficking and gun offenses in a federal courtroom in Pennsylvania, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Moving on from his earlier legal contacts, Givens’ guilty plea includes charges for possession with intent to distribute a variety of strong narcotics, including large quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and crack cocaine.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, when the DEA and local narcotics officers raided a location connected to Givens, they seized an alarming amount of drugs and firearms; it turns out he had 1.5 kilograms of a mixture of para-fluorofentanyl and fentanyl, 399 grams of para-fluorofentanyl, 770 grams of methamphetamine, 746 grams of cocaine, and 71 grams of crack cocaine, as well as eight guns in his possession. Given his history, Givens’ admission to owning a pistol adds to the gravity of an already serious case involving narcotics.
United States District Judge Robert J. Colville has been appointed to deliver justice, and Givens is scheduled to be sentenced on May 29. According to federal sentencing guidelines, Givens may face a minimum of 10 years to life in prison and a fine of up to $10 million.
The prosecution is led by Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Ball, who ensures accountability for the identified illicit conduct. The case drew attention from the DEA and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team, whose collaborative investigation highlighted the persistent problem of dismantling drug trafficking networks.
