A man wanted in connection with an Alabama bank robbery was apprehended in Amory on Friday, May 2, thanks to a joint operation by the Amory Police Department and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Amory Police Department, they were contacted about the robbery in Sulligent, Alabama, and were told that the perpetrator could have gone to the Amory area. Lamar County investigators provided information that directed Amory officers to a home on 5th Avenue South Extended.
Officers spotted and arrested the culprit, Rahmean Williams. Authorities also collected evidence at the location to aid Lamar County officials in their ongoing investigation.
Williams was arrested and imprisoned in Amory until he was extradited to Alabama.
“This is another strong example of law enforcement agencies working together to keep our communities safe,” said a statement from the Amory Police Department.
The investigation into the bank robbery is ongoing.
