Monday night witnessed yet another alarming event in Western New York, adding to the growing number of recent frightening incidents in the region.
Community members have been able to strengthen the Neighborhood Watch team by sharing their observations and experiences through public forums on Facebook and X. This has proven to be an effective way to alert others about what is happening in their area.
We have been exposed to numerous stories about incidents that we never thought would take place in our locality, such as robberies and attempted kidnappings. Nonetheless, these events have made us more aware and cautious of our surroundings.
A story was shared to the Lancaster/Depew Neighbors Helping Neighbors Facebook group on Monday night, which has garnered significant attention online.
On Facebook, Amanda, a concerned mother residing in the Lancaster/Depew area, warned others to be cautious with their children as she shared her harrowing experience. According to her post, an African American man driving a blue car attempted to kidnap her daughter but fortunately, he was unsuccessful.
After the frightening incident outside The Depew-Lancaster Boys & Girls Club at 60 Preston St, Depew, NY, Amanda’s daughter was able to make a quick escape and run home.
Lately, there has been a surge of concerning stories that demand our attention. While it’s important to stay informed, the frequency of such incidents is worrying.
In early March, a young woman narrowly escaped an abduction attempt in her own driveway after a night out in Buffalo. Despite the perpetrator managing to throw her into the back of his car, she bravely fought back and caused the car to crash onto the sidewalk. She then sought help from a nearby neighbor’s house.
It’s important to stay vigilant even in familiar places, such as your own driveway. Always be aware of your surroundings and take precautions to ensure your safety.
