Angry Utah Man Drives His Newly-Purchased Car Through A Dealership After Being Denied A Refund

Well, now they’re definitely not going to take the car back. Buying a car is usually a frustrating experience. You sit across from a slick salesman, trying to haggle for a small discount, or you’re left wondering what’s wrong with a used car while the salesman pushes you to sign the deal. It’s not exactly enjoyable, but in the end, you walk away with a new car (and likely a hefty monthly payment). But it seems like a guy in Utah had a different reaction after picking up his car.

A wild video from Tim Dahle Mazda Southtowne in Sandy, Utah shows a man driving his car straight through the dealership’s front doors after being denied a refund. According to police, 35-year-old Michael Lee Murray had visited the dealership earlier that day to buy a Subaru Outback. However, after driving it home, he wasn’t satisfied with its condition and tried to return it. The dealership told him the car was sold “as is,” meaning he wasn’t getting a refund.

Murray wasn’t having it. He warned the staff he would take matters into his own hands: “Murray returned to request his money back and to return the vehicle he had bought. However, staff advised Murray that he bought the vehicle ‘as is’ and could not return it for a refund. Murray told the manager that since they weren’t giving him his money back, he would drive his vehicle through the front doors.”

And that’s exactly what he did. Video footage shows him aiming straight at the front doors, flooring it, and driving through the door, knocking over the front desk in the process. As he hopped out and walked away through the now-gaping hole in the wall, he said, “I warned you, huh? I told you motherfuckers.” Well, to be fair, he did warn them.

Shocked employees quickly shut off the car to ensure no one was injured and called the police. According to the police report: “Murray’s vehicle was completely inside the building. The front doors were now inside the building, with shattered glass all around. Some pieces of the door and door frame had hit another vehicle in the showroom, causing damage to the side of that vehicle as well.”

Murray told police he was upset because the dealership had “sold him a lemon.” However, it turns out that driving through the front door wasn’t the best way to handle things. He was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and economic interruption. Safe to say, he’s not getting that refund.
