On May 22, Arkansas State Police apprehended a fugitive wanted for multiple violent felonies in Eudora following a multi-state alert.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s office warned Arkansas officials that Richard Dewayne Pope, 40, of Oak Grove, Louisiana, was considered hazardous owing to a violent history and was suspected to be riding a motorcycle through Chicot County.
That evening, authorities found Pope at a convenience store on Highway 65 South in Eudora and detained him without incident.
He is facing felony accusations, including six counts of second-degree attempted murder, six counts of obstructing a witness, insurance fraud, aggravated arson, and obstruction of justice by evidence destruction. He also has a previous arrest for violent assault with a handgun.
