A man was taken into custody by the Tulsa Police Department on Saturday after he fatally shot several squirrels in an east Tulsa park.

Officers responded to a report of squirrel hunters at McClure Park at approximately 3:45 p.m., according to the police.

Upon the officers’ arrival, they spotted Kenric McFrazier, a 23-year-old individual, strolling through the park while carrying a pellet rifle. It was observed that there was another individual accompanying McFrazier in the car, who happened to be a fellow hunter.

The suspects admitted to the police that they had been driving around the park and using scoped pellet rifles to shoot squirrels. They were collecting the squirrels with the intention of eating them. According to the suspects, they chose the park as their hunting ground because they did not have a suitable location for squirrel hunting and the park had a plentiful population of squirrels.

In the suspects’ car, officers discovered six lifeless squirrels, along with two pellet guns equipped with scopes and two pistols.

According to the police, McFrazier is not allowed to possess guns due to his prior criminal record.

McFrazier, a felon, was taken into custody on charges of possessing a firearm and hunting without a license. Meanwhile, his hunting companion received a citation for engaging in hunting activities within a city park and was subsequently released.

According to the authorities, the police have confiscated the guns as evidence.
