According to a news release by the state police on Sunday, an Ohio murder suspect was apprehended by Indiana State Police troopers on the Indiana Toll Road on Saturday.
Over the weekend, Indiana State Police dispatchers were alerted by Ohio authorities that a suspect, who was wanted for the alleged murder of a 17-year-old, could be traveling on the Indiana Toll road. The dispatchers quickly relayed this crucial information to the troopers.
Around 9:57 a.m. on Saturday, an Ohio authorities’ described vehicle was spotted and located by a trooper. As the trooper trailed the gray Toyota, he was able to verify additional factors that confirmed the car’s identity as the one that was being searched. The vehicle kept moving towards the west, passing the La Porte exit, with the trooper following until backup arrived.
With the help of an officer from the Westville Police Department, the trooper pulled over a Toyota near the 38-mile marker of the Indiana Toll Road. They conducted a high-risk stop and apprehended the driver, a 22-year-old man from Painesville, Ohio. He was then taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail.
In Ohio, the Willoughby Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the killing of a 17-year-old male within their jurisdiction. The name of the suspect will be disclosed once the arraignment takes place.
