Authorities are still actively searching for the man wanted in connection with a bold and audacious shooting that occurred during the daytime, resulting in the death of one man and the injury of another. This information was announced by Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.
At around 1:30 p.m. on January 31, 2023, the Brockton Police received an urgent 911 call reporting the sound of gunshots coming from inside the Dollar Tree store situated at 999 North Montello Street.
Upon arrival, Brockton police and emergency medical personnel located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both males were sent to Good Samaritan Hospital for care. Injuries claimed the life of one guy. Dongbin Pyon, 38, of East Boston, has been identified.
The Brockton Police reached out to the Massachusetts State Police troopers from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, initiating an investigation. Following the investigation, the police obtained an arrest warrant for Luis Soto, who recently celebrated his 35th birthday. Soto had previously worked at the Dollar Tree store.
After the shooting, Soto fled the scene of the store and is currently on the run. The authorities have located his car, but he is still at large. It is important to note that Soto is armed and dangerous, so caution should be exercised.
The United States Marshals Service is actively seeking information on Soto’s whereabouts, and they are offering a generous $5,000 reward for any leads that lead to his arrest.
