Rochester, N.Y. — Police are pursuing new leads in a fatal Thanksgiving hit-and-run in the South Wedge neighborhood.

The victim, 45-year-old Akili Nix of Rochester, was discovered lying in the middle of Gregory Street around 3 a.m. Thursday. According to authorities, he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Nix later succumbed to his injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Thanks to assistance from the public, investigators identified the vehicle involved as a dark-colored 2015 Nissan Altima. Police stated it’s possible the driver might not have realized they hit someone.

No suspects have been apprehended at this time.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, including residents or businesses in the Gregory, Hickory, or Ashland area, to contact the Rochester Police Major Crimes Section at 428-7157, Crime Stoppers at 423-9300, or email [email protected].
