Big Lots, the discount retailer based out of Columbus, will reopen 13 stores across Ohio on June 5.
Seven new locations in Northeast Ohio will debut in June, along with stores in Canton and Cincinnati.
The effort is part of a revitalization strategy led by new owner Variety Wholesalers, who acquired 219 Big Lots sites from liquidator Gordon Brothers in January. The company has been working to revive the bargain retailer’s nationwide presence.
Variety Wholesalers’ president and CEO, Lisa Seigies, claimed in an April press release that 132 stores around the country would reopen in May with a “newly expanded assortment of fresh inventory and great deals.”
Big Lots began reopening stores in phases beginning May 1, with some Ohio locations opening on May 15.
The June 5 reopenings are Ohio’s greatest single-day rollout, with stores reopening in the northeast, central, and southern regions of the state.
