A Black teacher’s classroom at a California high school is under an investigation following a video that surfaced, showing a group of pro-Donald Trump students gathering in the room on Election Day.

A video obtained byFox 11, showed a group of white students wearing Trump gear and flags as they stormed the outside of Bella Ivory’s classroom on November 5.

Ivory’s door received multiple knocks from students, as the teacher emphasized the importance of keeping it shut to ensure the safety of those inside her classroom.

Ivory vividly remembers the sight of numerous children gathering outside her door. Among them, one child proudly waved a Trump flag on a pole, while others sported MAGA hats and various Trump-themed clothing.

“They looked like the KKK,” she added, according to students.

A Trump flag was reportedly wielded by a school security guard during the apparent MAGA demonstration, as stated by the Beverly Hills Courier.

Principal Drew Stewart issued a statement several days after the incident occurred.

According to Stewart, student political expression holds significance, but there are certain limits that need to be observed. Regrettably, in the past two days, there have been several instances where students gathered in a way that caused significant disruption to our school’s operation and the education of our students.

At a school board meeting on November 12, students voiced their concerns about the incident and shared accounts of other racially intimidating acts that took place following the election.

One student expressed their awareness of the deep-seated hatred and racism present during their time here, but they had never witnessed it being expressed in such a striking manner as it was last week.

Another person shared their experience, stating that during that week, they were constantly subjected to racial slurs, exclusion, and mistreatment simply because of their race. This became their new reality, where they were regularly targeted and marginalized due to being Black.

According to a male student, he observed instances of racial slurs being written on the bathroom walls, fellow students using hateful language in the shared hallways, and even acts of violence directed towards Ms. Bella and their club, the Black Student Union.

After the meeting, Superintendent Dr. Michael Bregy expressed his gratitude for the valuable contributions made by the speakers. He emphasized the significance of addressing concerns related to hate speech and safety, stating that he and his colleagues are fully committed to ensuring a safe environment for the students.

The superintendent acknowledged the diverse perspectives within the community and affirmed that they are actively listening to all voices during this crucial dialogue. Regular meetings with students are being conducted to address these concerns effectively.
