EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A woman told First Alert 4 that her boyfriend shot and killed a man who was attempting to steal her car in East St. Louis.
The woman explained that two men tried to steal her Dodge Charger near 75th and Church streets on Monday morning. She said the men were armed with an automatic weapon, and fearing for their lives, her boyfriend shot and killed one of the suspects.
The woman also mentioned that her car had been targeted for theft before and was damaged. She had just retrieved the vehicle from the dealer on Wednesday.
The Illinois State Police Department confirmed to First Alert 4 that they are investigating a shooting death that occurred in the 7500 block of Church Lane at around 6:40 a.m. They have not released further details about the investigation.
