According to the Byram Police Department, a man has been taken into custody for allegedly shooting another man whom he met on a dating app on February 20. The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Davis Road in Byram.
The Byram Police Department received a press release stating that medical personnel had informed them of a male patient who had been involved in an altercation and had sustained a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening.
Detectives have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Shakur Shaqawane Mcgee from Brookhaven. With the assistance of the Brookhaven Police Department, Mcgee was apprehended in Lincoln County. It was discovered that Mcgee had been communicating with the victim through the dating app “Tagged.”
Mcgee is currently facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Due to his past criminal activities and association with a gang, authorities have denied him bond and have taken him to the Hinds County Detention Center.
