A Buckeye man faces a fine and jail time after being caught on camera unlawfully dumping debris, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the Buckeye Public Works Department, on May 14, someone left a pile of debris in a desert area near Sunrise Drive and Miller Road.
Because the region is notorious for illicit dumping, Public Works officials earlier installed a camera to monitor the situation. On May 8, the camera recorded still shots of a silver truck driving away from the debris pile.
Investigators used Buckeye Police’s Real Time Information Center to locate the truck’s owner.
Detectives approached the man and cited him for criminal littering, which carries a fine of up to $750 and up to four months in jail.
Authorities want Buckeye homeowners to know that they can dispose of up to 600 pounds of debris at the Southwest Regional Landfill for less than $14.
