A Central Florida armed robbery suspect has been arrested.
Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery call this month at Davenport’s Vape Up Café.
It was reported that just minutes previously, a heavy-set, middle-aged white male approached the sales counter and demanded money from the clerk while brandishing a knife at her.
The employee attempted to call 911, but the robber snatched her phone. The robber stole some cash and escaped in a silver Toyota Corolla.
The employee was unharmed, apart from a little scrape from the knife.
Deputies also learned that the person was wearing a beanie with an Amazon emblem, a black Reebok hoodie, and khaki shorts.
We discovered the suspect’s car and conducted a traffic stop at Home Run Blvd. and US 27 in Davenport.
Edwin Soto, 53, of Davenport, drove the automobile. Edwin had an Amazon beanie, similar to the one worn by the robbery suspect. According to police, he was also in possession of cocaine.
Detectives discovered a black Reebok hoodie and khaki shorts while carrying out a search request at Edwin’s home. Edwin Soto was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail.
According to local authorities, he was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, armed burglary with assault, armed kidnapping, tampering with a felony life crime, and possession of cocaine.
