Chicago police officers responding to a call in Little Village on the city’s Southwest Side were the victims of an alleged gang-related shooting, according to police sources.
Officers were responding to a report of four males standing in the street, stopping vehicles, and pointing guns when they came under gunfire.
Mayor Brandon Johnson says “This brazen act of violence has no place in our communities. These individuals put our police officers and the entire neighborhood in danger by recklessly firing down a residential street. While we are relieved that no officers or residents were injured in this incident, this could have easily become a tragedy. The Chicago Police Department is investigating this incident, and we will provide updates as they become available. We must continue to double down on our efforts to get illegal guns off of our streets and to stem the flow of guns into our city.”
