In a shocking incident that unfolded inside a motel room in Indiana, a mother shot a convicted child molester multiple times after walking in on him attempting to assault her 12-year-old daughter indecently, authorities said, according to officials. The 39-year-old man, identified as B. Pierce, was seriously injured in the shooting and is now facing many criminal charges, including attempted molestation, attempted child molestation, and unauthorized firearm possession.
Pierce is presently hospitalized, according to police and court documents. He was previously convicted of child abuse in 2016 and served eight years in jail. A warrant for his arrest remains active while he recovers from medical treatment. The incident happened on May 24. According to court filings, Pierce had been in contact with the 12-year-old girl via online messaging and phone calls, apparently attempting to persuade her to flee with him.
On the day of the assault, the child and her sister went to the motel to locate their mother, who was present with Pierce. It’s unknown how the mother and Pierce wound up in the motel or what her connection is with him. The mother, Pierce, and the girls entered a motel room. When the 12-year-old began to feel ill, her mother and sister briefly exited to carry some luggage to the car, leaving the girl alone with Pierce. That brief time became a nightmare.
According to the victim, Pierce encouraged her to sit on the bed before grabbing her arms, pinning them down, and tearing at her clothes. He allegedly ripped her tank top and underpants, but she claims he did not touch any other parts of her body. Witnesses stated Pierce had a gun on or near him throughout the assault. At that vital moment, the mother returned to the room and discovered Pierce on top of her daughter. She yelled at him, enraged and horrified, before pulling out her gun and shooting Pierce numerous times. The mother and daughter fled the scene, along with other relatives waiting in the car, and they dialed 911.
On May 24, a neighboring hospital reported Pierce’s critical condition. Authorities have not provided any details on his present status. Despite his hospitalization, authorities issued an arrest warrant for the significant felony charges that he will face once he leaves the hospital. Authorities transported the 12-year-old girl to a children’s hospital for a medical examination. The suspect’s gun allegedly struck her during the encounter, resulting in minor injuries.
