After refusing to sleep, a girl was strangled and carried out of a room by her father, authorities said.

Police say Peter Lee Singer carried his child back to bed by her throat. Singer, 28, rejected the accusation, but witnesses’ accounts confirmed bruising on the child’s throat.

The child approached a relative, who inquired as to how the marks on her neck had appeared. According to the report by Trooper Josiah Reiner, the victim stated, “Daddy did it.”

The child woke Singer at 2 a.m., according to a witness who police spoke with. According to the witness, Singer grabbed the woman by the throat after she refused to return to her bedroom and go back to sleep.

Speaking with officials, Singer said he “tapped” the child on the “ass” when she refused to sleep. Photographs provided to police on April 14 purportedly revealed purple marks on the victim’s neck.

Singer is charged with strangling, aggravated assault on a juvenile with intent to cause harm, simple assault, and endangering the welfare of minors. Singer’s bail was rejected by Judge Denise Dieter, who stated that his untreated mental health makes him a threat to himself.
