TODAY: A Mild Day Before the Front

Morning temperatures range from the low to mid-30s, with passing clouds.

In the afternoon, temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 50s. Winds will pick up ahead of a weak front, gusting up to 25 mph.

Sunday: Frosty Start with Sunshine

  • Morning: Temperatures will dip into the 20s, with wind chills in the teens. Areas of freezing fog may form, causing slippery spots on elevated surfaces.
  • Afternoon: Expect highs in the upper 40s with sunny skies and light winds.

Next Week: A Brief Warm-Up

Monday will see temperatures in the upper 40s with a return of north winds.

By midweek, temperatures will reach the 60s by Wednesday before dropping to more typical seasonal levels by the weekend.

Weekend Recap

If you’re hanging Christmas lights, Saturday offers milder weather with a breezy south wind. Sunday will be chilly, but calm and sunny—just be sure to layer up!

Frost Flowers Delight Early Risers

Friday morning brought a rare sight to Oklahoma: frost blossoms. Warm soil causes moisture to freeze in plant stems, creating beautiful formations. Thanks to Sequoyah Quinton, one of our storm monitors, for sharing these fascinating phenomena!

A front will move through Saturday afternoon, bringing gusty north winds and dropping temperatures for the rest of the weekend. Saturday morning will start in the 40s, with midday highs reaching the upper 50s.

Strong north winds and increasing clouds will sweep across southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma. A weak disturbance behind the front may bring a few light snow showers to eastern Kansas and western Missouri. Most of this will stay northeast of our immediate area.

Colder weather will settle in Saturday afternoon and evening, with temperatures rapidly dropping from the 50s to the 40s.

Sunday morning will bring another deep freeze, with temperatures in the mid-20s and daytime highs in the low 40s. Expect mostly sunny skies and a light breeze.

What’s the Outlook for Next Week?

Similar conditions are expected on Monday, with morning lows in the 20s and afternoon highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.

A southern stream system will bring increased rain chances to north Texas early next week. Some of these showers may reach southeastern Oklahoma by Monday evening or Thursday, but the chances remain low.
