OKLAHOMA CITY – A 19-year-old employee received nationwide recognition Thursday morning, earning a prestigious award from her company and an early Christmas surprise.

In front of Cornerstone Caregiving’s office, Brianna Alston, 19, experienced an emotional celebration. Her family and coworkers greeted her with cheers and excitement as she arrived.

“Just in disbelief,” Alston shared. “I think I shed a few tears. I was definitely just shocked.”

Alston was honored as the national caregiver of the year by her company.

“You deserve this, you have worked for this, and all these people here are so excited for you,” said Bailee Adams, the company’s operating director, as the crowd cheered her on.

To make the occasion even more special, the celebration came with a surprise—a brand-new car, gifted to Alston as an early Christmas present.

“I’m just so grateful for you guys,” Alston expressed, hugging a coworker after sitting in the driver’s seat. “Thank you.”

The new car is a life-changing gift for Alston, who revealed she lost her vehicle earlier this year and had been relying on others to get to work.

“This will make life so much easier and my job so much easier,” she said.

Even one of her in-home care clients came to congratulate her.

“She has become family,” said Theresa, standing with her daughter Lindsay. “It didn’t take very long, and she just became another one of my children. We just love her; she fits right in.”

Alston’s dedication and positive spirit led to this well-deserved recognition. On Thursday, the caregiver became the one cared for, giving her a chance to move forward and continue inspiring others.

“Keep on pushing,” Alston encouraged. “Keep on being that light, keep on being that joy that people love to see.”

She was selected for the award from a pool of 7,000 candidates.
