Cacey Williams, a 34-year-old who was imprisoned in 2013 and again in 2015 on burglary charges, is now accused of three house burglaries since 2022, including the one highlighted in our recent piece.
Prosecutors claimed Williams was one of the males who broke into a home in the 1600 block of West Byron on April 4 and stole an estimated $5,860. According to a criminal complaint, the two-man burglary squad came into the home around 10:45 a.m. and stole purses, jewelry, perfume, an Xbox controller, AirTags, backpacks, and wine.
DNA tests linked Williams to burglaries in the 1900 block of West Byron on November 16, 2023, and the 4300 block of North Ashland on December 9, 2022, according to authorities. The victims on Ashland sustained losses estimated at $18,000.
Prosecutors told Judge James Costello that Williams broke into residences through back windows. Costello ordered Williams’ detention, claiming he had “destroyed [the] sense of safety” victims felt in their homes.
The most recent victim posted CCTV footage of the burglars casing their home on April 4.
The victims told us that the CPD made “no effort” to collect camera footage from neighbors, so they initiated their inquiry.
As we reported last month, the pair had done so much research that they believed they could identify one of the robbers by name. We can now reveal the name they offered. Cacey Williams.
The second individual shown in the CCTV video has not been located.
