On Tuesday morning, two employees from a charter school in Delaware County were charged with assaulting a student’s mother.
Roneshe Evans, 33, and Tonya Warren, 32, are currently facing charges, including assault, for their involvement in an altercation that took place at the Chester Transportation Center at approximately 7:45 a.m. Both individuals are employees at Chester Community Charter School.
The victim expresses that she has been facing problems with the school throughout the year, but she never anticipated it would escalate to a physical altercation.
Tiffany Spisak, with broken glasses and a scratch on her face, exclaimed, “My lens is missing, it’s bent.” She described her knees as bloodied and her head throbbing, attributing it to the alleged attack by Evans and Warren.
“They came up to me while I was waiting at my usual bus stop in the morning, the very same spot I go to every day to get to work,” she recalled.
According to Spisak, the employees came up to her while she was waiting at the bus stop and began recording the altercation that eventually became physical.
According to Spisak, she had previously reported the workers’ misconduct to the school principal and even decided to transfer her daughter to a different building. She alleges that the workers’ behavior in front of her daughter was inappropriate.
“I’ve been working on resolving this issue for a while now,” she stated.
A school administrator arrived at the bus stop and apprehended both employees while Spisak was still on the phone with 911, as stated in the criminal complaint.
Evans and Warren were apprehended by the police on the school premises.
The school has suspended the employees and released a statement denying any connection between the incident and the school. They also contradicted both the police and the victim, asserting that no injuries occurred.
The statement from a school spokesperson reads as follows:
“CCCS is aware of an allegation of an off-campus incident that may have involved two school employees outside of their working hours and their professional capacities. Despite the alleged incident having no connection to CCCS, and because the safety and wellbeing of our students is our absolute top priority, CCCS takes this allegation against its staff seriously and will thoroughly investigate this matter. CCCS will also cooperate with any law enforcement inquiries, though there has been no such inquiry made to the school at this point since the school was not involved and the incident did not occur at the school. The staff members alleged to be involved in the incident are suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. According to the allegation, no injuries were sustained in this incident.”
Spisak expresses her concern about the safety of her daughter at school.
“I never thought it would come to me getting assaulted and then telling me to be a parent. I am being a parent. I’m advocating for my daughter, she’s not being treated well,” she said.
Both suspects are currently facing charges, which include assault and harassment. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 25th.
