A Lady Lake lady was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped for broken taillights on her way home from work.
An officer noticed a white Nissan SUV with inoperable taillights going north on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at Lemon Street around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Since then, the police have confirmed Melissa Jameleth Gomez-Castro, 25, as the driver.
The officer then halted the vehicle, told Gomez-Castro of the reason for the check, and requested the necessary documentation. The report stated that she supplied an expired Ecuadorian visa and passport.
She announced that she was leaving her job as a server at Fresh Jalapenos and heading home. However, a check of her information found that she did not hold a valid driver’s license, according to the article.
Gomez-Castro was then arrested on charges of driving without a license (he had never had one). The Ecuadorian native was taken to Lake County Jail and freed after posting a $500 bond.
