An 8-year-old student died after being stabbed by a teacher at an elementary school in South Korea, according to several news sources citing authorities.
According to the Yonhap News Agency and Reuters, police arrived at the school in Daejeon on February 10 and discovered the youngster and the female teacher, who was in her 40s, with stab wounds.
The girl, who had been stabbed in the neck and arm, was brought to a local hospital and confirmed dead, according to authorities. The girl was reported missing because she did not attend an after-school art lesson.
According to Yonhap, the teacher, who was being treated at the hospital, allegedly acknowledged to stabbing during a police interview.
According to Yonhap, the police reported that the teacher had come back to the school last year after taking a leave of absence because of depression. It is still uncertain whether the woman has been arrested or charged, and if there is any known motive.
