Elon Musk has responded to Microsoft’s global outage with a series of social media posts, dubbing it the “Biggest IT fail ever.”

The billionaire shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), which he acquired in 2022. His remark came as a reply to a Financial Times post.

Microsoft 😡

A global IT outage of Microsoft systems on Friday caused significant disruptions for many businesses and services, notably affecting the banking, airline, and media sectors. This widespread issue led to chaos across the globe.

He then followed up with the word “Microsoft” and an angry emoji, and reshared one of his own posts from 2021 that read, “Macrohard > Microsoft,” adding an ellipsis.

“Macrohard” is a term Elon Musk has used previously to mock Microsoft. Musk popularized this term in a 2021 post, where he compared Microsoft to a fictional company called “Macrohard,” suggesting that Microsoft was underperforming, especially during a major global outage affecting many of its cloud services and applications.

The term “Macrohard” is also seen as a playful contrast to “Microsoft.” Here, “macro” (large) and “hard” are set against “micro” (small) and “soft,” offering a tongue-in-cheek critique of the tech giant.

He reacted to a meme featuring linked arms, labeled “Microsoft” and “The Secret Service,” with the middle text saying “not being secure.” The meme humorously suggests that Microsoft and The Secret Service are bonding over their lack of security. Musk responded with a laughing face emoji.

This meme references the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13. Musk, a vocal supporter of Trump, is reportedly donating $45 million per month to the Trump campaign, according to The Telegraph.
