Elon Musk was every bit the devoted father as he arrived at Capitol Hill with his son, X Æ A-12, perched on his shoulders.
The 53-year-old Tesla CEO, recently appointed by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, was on his way to meet with Senate Majority Leader John Thune on Thursday morning in Washington, D.C. And he made it a family affair, bringing along his four-year-old son, affectionately called “X.”
Elon, dressed in a suit, was spotted arriving at the Capitol with little X sitting comfortably on his shoulders. The young boy looked sharp in dress pants, a gray sweater, and a sports jacket, with his brown hair styled into a mohawk-like spike.
The father-son resemblance was striking as they walked into the meeting together. Later, X was seen holding tightly to his dad’s hand as they made their way through a crowd of reporters and photographers, with an orange basketball in his other hand. In some shots, they were seen making identical facial expressions, scrunching up their faces in unison.
Elon, smiling fondly at his son, exited the building with him by his side.
Elon, who has 12 children from three different women, welcomed X in May 2020 with his ex-girlfriend Grimes. This wasn’t the first time the SpaceX founder brought his son to a political event. Last month, X was at Donald Trump’s Election Night celebration at Mar-a-Lago, enjoying treats and spending time with his famous dad amidst a crowd of celebrities and political figures.
The young boy also attended a GOP rally with Elon a week earlier, where he wore a customized red MAGA hat that read, “Make voting great again.” At the event, he held a Trump/Vance sign and chatted with incoming First Lady Melania Trump.
After his election, President Trump tapped Elon and Vivek Ramaswamy to help “dismantle” the $6.5 trillion U.S. bureaucracy by heading the newly created Department of Government Efficiency.
On Thursday, Elon and Vivek met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss plans for the new department heading into the next administration.
